Solar Sales Consultant

Growth & MarketingBengaluru, KarnatakaFull-time2–5 years

Turn Helira's live proposals into signed installs — on the phone, on WhatsApp, in a society clubhouse on a Saturday morning, and on the roof when a homeowner needs to meet a person before committing.

About Helira

Helira Energy Private Limited is a brand + technology company for residential rooftop solar in Bengaluru. Homeowners get an honest quote in minutes in the app rather than waiting days for a site visit to learn what a rooftop costs. Helira-certified installers carry out the physical work; the warranty and accountability stay with Helira.

Why this role exists

There are live proposals with homeowners' names on them, and a referral list from people who have already chosen us. Right now the founder works all of it personally, which means a proposal sometimes waits three days for a follow-up call it should have had in three hours. That is the gap this seat closes.

This is the first dedicated conversion hire, and it is deliberately a hybrid seat. Most days are the phone and WhatsApp: working live proposals while the homeowner's interest is still warm, chasing the ones that have gone quiet, and answering the questions that stall a solar decision. Some days are in the field: a society session where thirty flat-owners want to know what a rooftop costs, a referral introduction from an existing customer, or a homeowner deciding whether to put three lakh rupees on their roof who wants to stand on it with someone first. When that visit is what closes the deal, you go — and Helira treats it as a reason it wins, not an overhead it tolerates.

You report to the Founder & CEO, and in time to the Customer Acquisition Lead.

What you will do

  • Own the proposal-to-booking number week by week, and report against it.
  • Work every live proposal by phone and WhatsApp, in Kannada and English, until it closes or the homeowner says no for a reason you can write down.
  • Revive the proposals that have stalled. Most of them have not said no; they have gone quiet, and nobody has called.
  • Work the referral list. Most of Helira's pipeline arrives because someone told a neighbour, and that is a channel you cultivate, not one you wait for.
  • Run and support society and apartment-association sessions — setting them up, standing in front of the room, and following up every person who left a number.
  • Answer the questions that actually decide a solar purchase: what the subsidy under PM Surya Ghar is worth and how it is claimed, how BESCOM net metering works, what the bill looks like afterwards, what the warranty covers and who honours it.
  • Go on site to close, when a visit is what the deal needs — walking the roof with the homeowner, talking through where the system sits, and answering objections in person.
  • Capture structured roof data on every visit to Helira's standard: photographs, roof dimensions and access, shading, orientation, meter and sanctioned load. This is not paperwork — it is how Helira checks and improves the satellite-generated proposal, and your visits are the ground truth that does it.
  • Keep the record honest in Helira's internal operations system: every proposal, every contact attempt, every outcome, every reason for a loss. If it is not logged, it did not happen.
  • Feed back what you hear. Which objections keep recurring, which parts of the quote confuse people, and where the app loses them.

Where this role stops

You close commercially. You do not sign off system sizing, structural suitability or technical feasibility on the roof, and you do not make technical commitments to a customer that Helira has not issued. Anything technical you observe is captured and routed to the person who owns that call. This boundary protects you as much as it protects the homeowner — Helira carries the warranty, so Helira issues the specification.

Essential requirements

  • 2–5 years selling residential rooftop solar to homeowners in Bengaluru. This is not negotiable for this hire: you should already know what a 3 kW system costs, why a homeowner hesitates, and what the subsidy and net-metering process actually puts a customer through.
  • Both phone-based selling and in-person customer meetings in your actual history — not one or the other.
  • A number you personally owned, and can talk through: what it was, whether you hit it, and what you changed when you did not.
  • Fluency in Kannada and English, spoken and written.
  • Own two-wheeler, valid licence, and genuine willingness to be across Bengaluru several days a week, including the occasional weekend session.
  • Comfortable keeping a system of record properly, every day, without being chased.
  • Able to explain a technical product honestly to a homeowner who is not technical — including saying "I will check and come back to you" rather than guessing.
  • Bengaluru-based.

Preferred

  • Experience across both the subsidised PM Surya Ghar route and a full-price sale, and an honest view of which customer suits which.
  • Hands-on familiarity with the BESCOM net-metering and sanctioned-load process, beyond explaining it.
  • Experience selling for a brand the customer had not heard of before that week.
  • Experience in front of a room — society meetings, demonstrations, camps or society-level selling.
  • Comfort with photographs, measurements and structured data capture on a phone.

What we offer

  • The first conversion seat in the company, and a live book of proposals handed to you rather than a territory you have to invent.
  • A product where the quote is already honest before you open your mouth, and a warranty that is genuinely Helira's to honour.
  • A fixed salary plus a variable tied to bookings, with the target and the method written down and agreed before you join — not explained to you afterwards.
  • A travel and fuel allowance for the field half of the job.
  • Possible progression to senior sales consultant, then inside sales team lead, as conversion volume grows and the team builds under you. (A statement of possibility, not a commitment.)

Compensation: competitive for an early-stage startup; finalised at offer.
